Sorare Joins Forces With NBA To Create Licensed NFT Game – Bitcoin News
Sorare, a French startup firm specializing in fantasy games, recently secured a deal with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to develop a non-fungible token (NFT) game under the NBA’s license. This will enable Sorare to use the NBA’s team names and player likenesses in its games. The firm, which had previously struck similar arrangements with North America’s Major League Baseball (MLB) and various European soccer leagues, including the Spanish Laliga, is now the official NFT partner of the NBA. The MLB and the European soccer leagues include the Spanish Laliga.
Sorare to Release an NBA-Licensed Game Based on the NFT
The National Basketball Association (NBA) of the United States of America has entered into a new cooperation with the French fantasy NFT game developer Sorare to develop a new NFT-based video game. The company made the announcement that it has inked a multi-year arrangement to become the official NFT partner of the league. This means that the company will be allowed to use the likenesses of players, teams, and the league in its upcoming products.
Users will be able to construct a team of NFT card players in the next game, which is analogous to previous games that have already been presented by the organization. The users’ point totals will be determined by the actual performances of the athletes on the team. In a similar fashion, the squad will have the opportunity to compete in a number of fantasy challenges hosted on the Sorare platform.
In response to this new information, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver indicated that this is not the league’s first attempt to utilize blockchain technology. The business that is responsible for the Ethereum game Cryptokitties, Dapper Labs, also collaborated with the NBA to debut Top Shots in October 2020, and the game was a huge hit.[rb_related title=”More Read” style=”light” total=”4″]
Nicolas Julia, co-founder and CEO of Sorare, made the following statement:
The Progress of Sorare
This new relationship brings the third sport to Sorare’s fantasy platform, after the company had already achieved comparable deals with comparable leagues in a variety of sports across multiple countries. In September of 2018, the platform formed partnerships with the Spanish Laliga, one of the most well-known soccer leagues in Europe, as well as the Bundesliga, which is the German equivalent of the Spanish league.
In a similar manner, the company signed a similar agreement with the MLB (Major League Baseball) in May of last year to introduce baseball to its platform. As a result of this partnership, the company became the official NFT partner of the association.
In September 2021, Sorare successfully completed its series B investment round, which resulted in the company acquiring $600 million and bringing its total valuation to $4.3 billion.
